Research Agreement

MARY CLEMENT DOUGLASS, CG dba/HISTORICAL MATTERS

When you retain a professional, credentialed researcher, you are paying for my time and expertise in finding, analyzing, and interpreting data in the quickest and most effective way possible to solve your genealogy problem.

RESEARCH AGREEMENT
Enclosed is a check or money order for $_____, (minimum of $140.00) as a retainer. I hereby engage the research services of Mary Clement Douglass, d/b/a/ HISTORICAL MATTERS, and authorize her to conduct research on my behalf, for an amount not to exceed $_____(time & expenses), as per my instructions (state briefly your research request):

I have provided to Mrs. Douglass all pertinent information on the subject to be researched. If research is genealogical, please include FAMILY GROUP SHEETS, PEDIGREE CHARTS, and a list of SOURCES PREVIOUSLY SEARCHED.

HISTORICAL MATTERS agrees to provide a detailed report, covering all sources checked during the research, with analysis, and a detailed report of time consumed and expenses incurred. The report will be mailed to the client, in a timely fashion, usually not more than eight (8) weeks from the time of receipt of the deposit by the researcher. Mary Douglass, dba Historical Matters, retains copyright of the client report. Client may make limited personal copies, but may not, in any manner, publish any part of the report without written permission of Mary Douglass.

Client gives Mary Douglass permission to use reports and documents found in the course of this commission for purposes of certification, in scholarly articles and for educational instruction.

The client will be charged as follows:
$35.00 per hour, including planning, research, analysis, and report. Time is divided among these four functions in approximately equal portions. The client will be charged for the cost of microfilm rental and copies, photocopies, photographs, postage,and travel outside of Salina, KS at 58-1/2 cents per mile, based on standard Kansas Department of Transportation mileages between cities. The client is also charged for the researcher's file copies for future reference.
